Unsolicited Project’s Sarah Rotella and Adrianna DiLonardo are heading down to Playlist Live to rep the #BBTVFam next weekend. We love the Unsolicited Project’s honest and unforgiving videos that address issues that all women can connect with. We asked the hilarious duo to explain their rise through the YouTube ranks which all started with a viral video and has recently landed them a feature film on Netflix. Check out their interview for our Playlist Live Q&A series below!

For viewers who aren’t already familiar with your content, what is your channel all about? Tell us a bit about yourself.

We are a comedy channel that focuses on comedy for and about women, and we also do a lot of content for LGBTQ audiences. Our videos range from sketches, to parodies, to web series.

How did you get started on YouTube? What was your inspiration for starting a channel?

We did a web series called Unsolicited Project about assistants in Hollywood. A few months after our web series was released on YouTube, College Humour did a video called Gay Men Will Marry Your Girlfriends, which we thought was hilarious and wanted to do the lesbian version. The video ended up going viral and we started getting subscribers from it, so we decided to continue making content on YouTube.

What has been the biggest change in your life since becoming a YouTuber?

Making our first feature film, Almost Adults. We shot the film in 2015 and it is currently streaming on Netflix in 12 countries including the US, Canada, UK, and Australia.

What’s your favourite video (that you created)? Why?

We have this video called Ikea Lesbian, and it was one of the first sketches that we did on our channel. It’s absolutely ridiculous and so weird but it was so much fun to make.

What do you want to say to the people watching your channel?

Don’t be afraid to laugh at yourself.

Is this your first time attending Playlist Live? If not what’s your favorite memory from last year?

We attended Playlist last year and we couldn’t believe how many of our subscribers showed up to the event. Also, getting to go to Universal Studios the closing night was pretty much the coolest thing we’ve ever done.

How excited are you for Playlist Live? What are you looking forward to the most?

Coming from cold and rainy Toronto, we are most looking forward to some hot weather and can’t wait to see other creators and subscribers.
