We interviewed GlitchxCity to tell us a little bit about herself before PAX East 2017 – THIS WEEKEND.
For viewers who aren’t already familiar with your content, what is your channel all about? Tell us a bit about yourself.
I do a lot of video game remixes, primarily Pokémon remixes (sprinkled in with some Zelda, Overwatch, Undertale, and Kingdom Hearts), and gameplay videos so you can see the person behind the music.
How did you get started on YouTube? What was your inspiration for starting a channel?
I’ve been on YouTube ever since the days of Ray William Johnson, FlippyCat, and Naruto AMVs with Linkin Park or Sum 41 music playing in the background. I didn’t start posting videos of my own until many years later. In between that time, I came across a channel called PokeRemixStudio, and as you can tell by the handle, their content revolved around Pokémon remixes. After listening to their music for so long I wanted to see if maybe I could try and do something like that too…and I guess it just took off from there haha.
What has been the biggest change in your life since becoming a YouTuber?
There were a lot of changes that happened in my life since becoming a content creator on YouTube, but the main thing that definitely changed since then is my career path. When I entered college as a computer science major, I was also in a training program to become a military officer for the Marine Corps. After being exposed to all the different opportunities that sparked from uploading content, I realized that becoming a military officer isn’t something that I really wanted to pursue. Right now I’m in my last term for college while still doing YouTube. After graduation, I plan to integrate myself more into the gaming industry alongside with making music, whether it would be for YouTube or other projects.
What’s your favourite video (that you created)? Why?
Right now? Haha, that’s a tough one. I really liked how my Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver Radio Tower Takeover remix came out. It gave me a chance to play around with the electric guitars and 8-bit sounds in that piece.
What do you want to say to the people watching your channel?
Thank you SO much for listening in fam! It’s freaking amazing to share my passion for video games and video game music with you guys. I honestly would not be in the position I’m in right now without y’all!
Is this your first time attending PAX?
Negative ghost rider. This is my 4th East, but 7th PAX in total. I’ve only attended East and South and would like to make it out to Seattle for PAX West either this year or next. Attending my first PAX back in 2014 really opened my eyes to wonders of the gaming industry.
What are you most looking forward to seeing/doing at PAX?
It’s the start of my spring break so I’m just glad to get out of school for a bit. I’m pretty stoked about seeing friends that I only get to see once, maybe twice a year if I’m lucky, a panel with some of my friends this Sunday, and definitely getting in some Overwatch action on the show floor.
