Anthony ‘Jinxster’ Brady is the undisputed king of the YouTube reactors! This newly minted-YouTube millionaire hit a cord with fans around the world with his signature breed of reacting to what’s trending, and of course his “try not to laugh challenges”. We got a chance to catch up with him to chat about his mammoth success, his inspiration, and what we can expect to see next from the Jinx YouTube juggernaut! Congratulations Jinx on reaching 1 Million subscribers on your channel! Can you give viewers a quick rundown on who you are?
Thanks! Well to start, my real name is Anthony Brady. I’m 22 years old and I like to think I have a very positive personality that I love to share with the world. The Jinx channel is a “reaction channel”, where instead of hitting share on a video, or waiting for a text response to something you just watched, you get to see the genuine reaction of another person!
What was your first reaction when you hit the 1MIL mark?
My first reaction was “no way!” I refreshed my computer a few times and even restarted it! I seriously couldn’t believe it was real. Lol
You mentioned in your ‘1 Million Subscribers THANK YOU!’ video that you want to change up your YouTube game by helping smaller channels get exposure. Can you tell us a little bit more about this and your inspiration behind it?
Oh, I’m not changing up my YouTube game. I always felt that I was helping people get a little more exposure, however, most of the requested videos were already pretty popular. My plan is to help smaller channels that are having a hard time getting noticed get noticed faster. So instead of reacting to large, well-know content creators, I want to react to smaller channels more than I have been in the past.
My inspiration was the fact that I started posting vids on YouTube years ago, and I felt they were pretty good but no one ever saw them because my channel was so small. I always thought if someone popular would just give me a shout out or something, people would realize that some small channels actually have potential if given the chance. Now that my reaction channel is doing fairly well I can be the one to help those smaller channels. It seems that most larger YouTubers don’t really want to see other channels grow (you rarely see a large YouTuber shout-out or collab with a small YouTuber) but to me there’s plenty of room for all of us to succeed!
What has been the biggest change in your life since becoming a YouTuber?
The only thing that has changed massively is time! I put so much time into making videos that I haven’t been living life as much as I could and should be doing. I’m in the house making videos pretty much all day and if I’m not making reactions I’m either writing up skits or making videos for my second channel.
What was your experience like this summer at VIDCON? Any fan encounters that stick out in particular?
VIDCON was an awesome experience! I had a good time and made some great friends. The one fan encounter that stood out the most was when two females were walking past me and one of them looked at me and smacked her friend extra hard on her shoulder to get her attention. When she noticed she walked right past me, then turned around and came up and asked for pictures lol, it was so funny when she smacked her cause it was extra loud lol.
Do you have a favourite video (that you created)? Why?
From my primary channel my fav video would have to be the “DEEZ nuts” vine comp. I was laughing so hard I was losing my breath.
What do you want to say to the people watching your channel?
To anyone watching my channel I would love to say I hope you enjoy watching vids with me and hope that you continue watching vids with me. And thank you! I really appreciate you!
