We interviewed MandjTV to tell us a little bit about him and what he’s looking forward to doing at PAX East 2017.

MandJTV 300x300 MandJTV IS HEADING TO PAX EAST!For viewers who aren’t already familiar with your content, what is your channel all about? Tell us a bit about yourself.

I make Pokemon videos! Pokemon has always been my favorite franchise, so my channel is a fun way for me to share my love of it with the rest of the world. But even though it’s centered on one franchise, my content varies a lot. I do Top 10 or Top 5 countdowns, Let’s Plays, answering Pokemon questions, a comedy series with Pokemon plushies called Pokemon Talk, and more! I’ve even done a rap battle between two characters. So in short, if someone likes Pokemon, I’m sure they’ll enjoy my content.

How did you get started on YouTube? What was your inspiration for starting a channel?

I started my YouTube channel in the summer of 2009 with my younger brother Justin (hence the channel name MandJTV, short for Michael and Justin TV). I was inspired by big YouTubers of the time like Fred and nigahiga, and I wanted to make content for others to enjoy and watch. We made silly, stupid, and often bad comedy videos for awhile before he got tired of making them a few years later. I made other comedy videos by myself for awhile, until the summer of 2013 I decided to make a video about how old Ash Ketchum is. I’ve been making Pokemon videos ever since.

What has been the biggest change in your life since becoming a YouTuber?

My career path! For a long time I thought I’d end up being an engineer, but the success of my channel has made it so I can make my dreams of having a creative career a reality. After I graduate college in May, I’ll become a full-time YouTuber, and I’m very excited to do that along with other creative endeavours as my career.

What’s your favourite video (that you created)?

The Ash vs Red Rap Battle. I put more work into that video than any video I’ve ever made before, and I’m very happy with how it turned out. The fact that it’s gotten a lot of views and praise as well is icing on the cake.

What do you want to say to the people watching your channel?

I really appreciate you! Seriously, I couldn’t do what I love without the support of my fans, and it means the world to me. Also if you ever see me in public, please don’t hesitate to say hi to me. It always makes my day whenever that happens.

Is this your first time attending PAX?

It will be my first time attending PAX East, but my first time attending any PAX was actually very recently at PAX South 2017. My girlfriend Jubilee and I went all three days, and it was a wonderful experience.

What are you most looking forward to seeing/doing at PAX?

Trying out new games and tech, spending time with Jubilee, meeting fans, and getting a break from school! XD
