We interviewed AbdallahSmash026 (Abdallah Elayan) to tell us a little bit about himself and what he’s looking forward to doing at PAX East 2017.
For viewers who aren’t already familiar with your content, what is your channel all about? Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m an official Nintendo Brand Ambassador who primarily covers Nintendo related games and content to my YouTube Audience. I enjoy showing high-quality, family-friendly, gameplay of the latest releases so that viewers can watch and make up their mind on if a game is worth a purchase or not. You’ll be able to find a wide variety of games spanning from the Super Mario Universe, to Pokemon, to Zelda, and Yo-kai Watch.
How did you get started on YouTube? What was your inspiration for starting a channel?
I started my YouTube Channel back when Super Smash Bros Melee was popular; I uploaded a couple videos of competitive matches with friends. It wasn’t until the launch of the Nintendo 3DS was when I wanted to become more active and get my channel growing. My main inspiration for starting the be active on YouTube was the fact that I would sit a home and watch a bunch of YouTubers make videos, when I knew I was able to the same thing – if not better!
What has been the biggest change in your life since becoming a YouTuber?
YouTube has overall been a life-changer ever since I started becoming discovered by my audience. The fans kept coming out and it snowballed into what it is today. I have been fortunate enough to be recognized by Nintendo and have been able to quit my Full-Time job in order to pursue YouTube Gaming.
What’s your favourite video (that you created)?
I don’t have a favorite video, simply because I output so many of them it’s hard to keep up! I would say that a favorite video series of mine would have to be the Yo-kai Watch Series. The game came to the United States in November 2015 and everyone dismissed it as a Pokemon rip-off. Knowing that it was a huge success in Japan, I gave it a shot and took the series by the horns and ran with it. To date, it’s my most popular series!
What do you want to say to the people watching your channel?
Thank you for all of your support, especially those of you who have stuck with me throughout the entire journey. Being a variety gamer definitely has it’s waves of subscribers that come and go, based on the game I’m currently playing, but those that stick around and continue to ride the different waves are really dear to me. Thank you for allowing me into your homes on a daily basis!
Is this your first time attending PAX?
Negative. I started attending all of the U.S. PAX conventions since PAX East 2014. One day, I’ll eventually make a trip to PAX Austraila!
What are you most looking forward to seeing/doing at PAX East?
I love participating in all the different Tournaments that are hosted in the Handheld Lounge and in the Console Tourney areas. The competitive scene is so much fun, especially if I get an opportunity to win a medal! I’m also hosting a YouTube Gaming Panel, so make sure to check the schedule and swing by!
